Preventive dental care in a comfortable, caring environment.

Choosing a Dental Home for General Dental Care

Preventing dental issues is the first step toward keeping your smile healthy and avoiding long-term dental health concerns. But prevention means regular professional dental cleanings and evaluations. Finding your family’s dental home can help you put that prevention plan into action. Partner with a dental practice that feels like home so you’ll be glad to come back for that next appointment.

For children, especially, choosing a dental home where they feel heard, cared for, and welcome can lead to a lifetime of positive oral health choices. And your oral health is directly linked to your overall health.

At The Tooth Doc, we partner with your family to reach and maintain optimal oral health through our preventive and advanced dentistry services.

What can you expect at a visit?

New and Lifelong Dental Health Partners

At The Tooth Doc, we are a team dedicated to providing our patients with the best dental care experience. We see the Omaha community as an extension of our family, and we want everyone to feel welcome in our family dental practice.

A routine dental appointment will include a professional dental cleaning, oral health evaluation, digital X-rays once per year, and us getting to know you more. We’ll also conduct an oral cancer screening while you’re here, and discuss your overall health. In addition to our general dentistry services, we also offer advanced dentistry with restorative and cosmetic care as well as orthodontics.

Prevent gum disease and decay.

Keeping You Healthy

Brushing and flossing regularly, as well as visits at least twice a year for a professional dental cleaning, will keep gum disease at bay. Many adults and children find they can’t always brush and floss when they most need to, though. Thankfully, gum disease in its earliest stages can be reversed with professional help and a consistent routine.

At The Tooth Doc, our team of hygienists will help you ensure your dental health routine is focused on your specific needs. We also pride ourselves on making every patient feel comfortable throughout their visit. Dr. Matz and the team have a special place in their hearts for those who suffer from dental anxiety and believe everyone can achieve oral health with the right approach. Our team will take the time to get to know you and your needs.

Stop periodontitis in its tracks.

Periodontal Therapy

For those with periodontitis (advanced gum disease), the goal is to stop it in its tracks. While advanced gum disease isn’t reversible, it can be managed before tooth or bone loss occurs or becomes more extensive. A thorough evaluation of your oral health will provide our dental team with all the information they need to devise a plan of action. Part of that plan will include removal of any calculus (tartar), which is a vital step toward healing because tartar is a haven for the bacteria that causes periodontitis. The result of that bacteria living and thriving below the gumline is inflammation and damage to the tissues that support your teeth. That inflammation and bacteria affect not only your oral health, but your overall health as well. We will carefully assess the damage to surrounding tissue and bone to make the best recommendations for moving forward.

Once therapy has started and the disease has been managed, you can move to maintenance mode to prevent any further disease progression. Maintenance includes frequent professional cleanings and evaluations of your healing.

Treat cavities and decay.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

No one wants to hear they have a cavity. Thankfully, composite fillings can preserve the structure of your tooth and blend in while doing so. The filling is tooth-colored, so it will look like a natural part of your smile.

Relieve the pain and save your tooth.

Root Canal Therapy

Sometimes the super sensitive, soft center of the tooth called the pulp can become inflamed or infected. The pulp is made entirely of soft tissue, such as nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. Root canal therapy treats inflamed or painful teeth by removing the pulp. Once it has been removed, the root is cleaned and sealed to prevent further infection.

Restore and preserve your tooth.

Same Day Dental Crowns

With our same day crowns, we complete a digital impression and mill your dental crown right here in our office. A digital impression means you won’t have to suffer through gooey impression trays, and no more temporary crowns!

Take the next step in healing.

Tooth Extractions

Sometimes a tooth is too badly decayed or broken to be saved with a dental restoration, such as a crown. In those instances, a tooth extraction may be recommended to protect your oral health. Helping you to feel comfortable during a procedure is our top priority. We will work with you to make sure you are aware of what is happening every step of the way and that you’re as relaxed as possible.

We take a long-term oral health view.

Wisdom Tooth Removal

While not everyone experiences issues with their wisdom teeth in early adulthood, it can be difficult to properly brush and floss around wisdom teeth thoroughly and regularly. Because of this, decay and periodontal disease frequently develop around the wisdom teeth. It is advisable to have your wisdom teeth removed before they impact your overall oral health. We are happy to care for you through that process, ensuring you receive the best care and an experience that will leave you wondering why you waited so long.

Protect your teeth night and day.

Nightguards and Mouth Guards

Have you ever woken up and wondered why your head, neck, and jaw hurt? The answer could be bruxism, or teeth clenching and grinding. Teeth clenching and grinding can also affect your temporomandibular joints (TMJ) causing pain and migraines. Severe bruxism can even result in the cracking and breaking of your teeth and will certainly wear on any dental crowns or fillings as well.

The daytime can be just as dangerous for your teeth, which is why we also offer mouth guards. A custom mouth guard will result in a better fit, which means better protection. For anyone engaging in a sport or activity that could result in a blow to the face, a mouth guard will protect your teeth as well as the soft tissues in your mouth.

Better sleep for you and your partner.

Snoring Cessation & Sleep Apnea Treatment

Good sleep impacts every aspect of your health. Those struggling with excessive snoring or sleep apnea know that lack of or low-quality sleep affects the body’s ability to heal itself and regulate every system. At The Tooth Doc, we can work with you to find the source of the problem and resolve it with an oral appliance made just for you.

Ease your mind and your visit.

Sedation Dentistry

At The Tooth Doc, we pride ourselves on having built a referral-based reputation as the Omaha practice for those with dental anxiety. Our sedation dentistry options provide peace of mind for anyone who suffers from dental anxiety or needs additional anesthetic options. We offer oral (pill) sedation as well as nitrous oxide as sedation options.

A dental emergency is never conveniently timed.

Same Day Emergencies

At The Tooth Doc, we understand that dental emergencies happen. Rarely do those emergencies occur when you already have a dental appointment scheduled. And there’s nothing quite like suffering from severe tooth pain with no relief in sight, which is why we offer same day dental emergency appointments.

If you’re experiencing severe tooth pain, a broken or cracked tooth, or have lost a tooth from dental trauma, contact us for an emergency dental appointment.
